Liverpool Closing in on Parma Starlet Giovanni Leoni

Liverpool are on the verge of signing 18-year-old Italian defender Giovanni Leoni from Parma in a deal worth around £26 million. The highly-rated centre-back has been a standout for Italy’s Under-19s and previously played for Padova and Sampdoria before joining Parma last summer. Leoni has been identified as a key target for new boss Arne Slot and is set to strengthen Liverpool’s defensive options. The Reds are also in talks with Crystal Palace over a potential move for England international Marc Guehi, though the clubs remain apart on valuation. FA Cup winners Palace are seeking £40 million for their captain, who has just 12 months left on his deal, while Liverpool hope to pay less.
